Young skin contains an abundance of hyaluronic acid, a naturally hydrating substance that absorbs water to create volume in the skin. As you age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in your skin decreases, causing your skin to droop and wrinkle. Juvederm is a safe and effective way to replace missing hyaluronic acid and restore firmness and structure to your skin.

What to Consider
You only need one appointment to see the amazing effects of Juvederm, and you’ll see a dramatic improvement in your skin’s appearance that very day. Results generally last about a year. Unlike other skin-tightening procedures, there is no downtime after a Juvederm treatment. You may experience some pain, tenderness, redness, swelling, or firmness at the injection site, all of which should clear up in about a week.
People with severe allergies to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins, and people with a history of multiple allergies marked by anaphylaxis, should not use Juvederm. Juvederm’s safety in people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who have a history of excessive scarring has not been studied. Remember to always discuss your health history with your doctor.
How to Prepare
To get the most out of your Juvederm treatments, you should:
- Before your appointment, avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS) for at least a week to reduce the risk of bleeding.
- Come to your appointment with a clean, makeup-free face.
- After your treatment, please avoid the following for 24 hours: strenuous exercise, alcoholic beverages, and extended sun or heat exposure.
