Laser Hair Removal Adds Confidence, Self-Esteem and Hope

Exemple epilation laser

Laser hair removal is not one of the most popular cosmetic procedures just because of what it removes from their lives – the pain endured and hours spent shaving, waxing, sugaring, threading or any of the many other ways they remove hair. In my opinion it is popular because of what it gives to those who have the procedure. Laser hair removal gives people a greater sense of confidence and self-esteem. They feel more beautiful and hopeful. Some people have even said that laser hair removal has transformed their lives.

It is my objective to give you all the information you need to eliminate any sense of fear you may have and to give you the confidence to set up an in-person consultation as your next step.

So, if you are considering laser hair removal, do your research. Find out as much as you can about the topic and about the most highly qualified doctors and technicians in your area. Then, definitely consider your specific situation and think of all that you have to gain as a result.

How Laser Works

First of all, let me assure you, laser hair removal has been FDA approved for two decades. It is safe, when done properly by a trained doctor or technician, and it is virtually painless. And methods are improving all the time. You certainly cannot say the same for shaving or waxing.

So, let me begin with the basic question: What is Laser? The word “laser” is actually an acronym that stands for “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.”

Often, the term “radiation” causes a fearful reaction since the word is also used to describe radioactive materials or ionizing radiation. However, in the context of laser hair removal, laser refers to an energy transfer. Energy moves from one location to another by conduction, convection, and radiation and cannot alter DNA structure.

The laser light causes localized damage to the hair by selectively heating dark targets, specifically dark hair follicles that cause hair growth. However it does not heat the skin.  Because laser targets dark areas, people with light skin and dark hair are the best candidates for treatment.

Several Treatments Required

Laser light can only affect the current actively growing hair follicles. However, hair grows in a number of different phases (anagen, telogen, catagen), which is why several sessions are needed. You have to get all the follicles during the active growth stage.

More Than Cosmetic

Laser hair removal may be seen by some people as a non-important procedure, however, let me assure you there are many medically necessary reasons that have led to its popularity. Just for starters, many people are plagued with painful ingrown hairs. This occurs when hair follicles get trapped and become infected. Laser hair removal thins out the hair by destroying between 15 – 25% of the follicles with each treatment. Once the follicles are dead the folliculitis stops completely.

Relieves Extra Hair Growth Caused by Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome causes hormonal changes in the body that often lead to excess hair growth. Laser hair removal has transformed the lives of many women with this condition.

As you can see, laser hair removal serves our world in so many ways. It gives far more than it removes!
